Memorial Event
Worthy GK,
I am writing this as an interim
report for tonight's meeting as I shall be at the
annual POA meeting for Pecan Grove from 6:30 pm., so I
may or may not be able to attend till later. I
will be at next week's meeting.
Those on the distribution list and
I have met and made the following arrangements:
Sixteen invitations were sent by
Ken to all the widows, and their families, that we
could find listed in the parish directory on the
parish database and to those we know.
On November 29 we will start to
chase up those where there was no reply.
Parish bulletin announcements have
been given in for the weekends of November 1/2 &
8/9
Pulpit announcements have been
agreed by Father for both weekends.
I ask the GK to put out a news
bulletin to all our council members on Thursday
November 6 reminding all.
The CCE rooms have been reserved
for: Saturday Nov. 8 for set up and for Sunday Nov. 9
for the luncheon. We have to be clear by 3:00 pm
for the next meeting there.
Bob has kindly offered to cook
chicken pot pies for lunch, and the SSMM have offered
to produce desserts.
Brothers will be asked to bring a
side dish.
As the budget has $250 in it for
the Memorial Mass, may we ask that Father is given a
$50 stipend and the $200 is allocated to pay for food.
We are asking all council KCs to
attend with their families, but we expect that only a
few will actually come.

read the rollcall of deceased Knights
11:00 am Mass
12:00 pm Widows will be
escorted to the CCE Building for lunch
and given a rose and a
name tag
12:15 pm Grand Knight
welcomes the widows suitably.

01:00 pm Near the end
of the meal, Bob will offer the widows the
services of the Knights to
help where they state they need
help. A form will be
given to each for this purpose.
01:30 pm Start clear up
I do not expect this schedule to be
kept to.
The phoning of all the council
members will be attempted in the week before to
request attendance and help.

My Procedures on Morning of KC Deceased and Widows Reception
|
1.
Before Mass,
collect 15 long stem red roses,
ordered the day before. 2.
After the 9:30
am Mass, see the organist and
find how to turn on the organ to play (toll) the bell
(middle C). 3.
Rope off the
front two pews on the left side
with the gold ropes at both ends. 4.
Check the CCE
building for room layout and
kitchen workings. 5.
Leave roses and
name tags at the reception
desk. 6.
At 11 o’clock,
see the ushers, especially the
head usher, to ask them to look out for the arrival of
the widows and to show
them to the front pews. 7.
At 11:20 am, get
the announcer to start the reading
of the deceased KCs, start it with three tolls of the
bell, and toll the bell once
after every third name. 8.
At the end of
Mass, invite the widows to the
CCE building for the reception. 9.
Grand Knight
should be in the CCE building to
welcome the widows, present each one with a rose and
their name tag. 10. When suitable,
one o’clock-ish, get Grand
Knight to give a word of welcome to all, then ask Father
to bless the food,
then ask Brother Knights to help widows to serve their
food, if needed. 11. Near the end,
one o’clock-ish, get Grand
Knight to announce that the Brothers would like to help
widows with what their
needs are (gardening, house maintenance, etc,) and hand
out forms, one to each
widow. 12. Collect the
forms and give to the workforce organizer, 13. This year Bob
gave out plaques to each widow. 14. Close the event
with a speech of thanks (by
myself) to all: widows, kitchen workers, organizers…,
giving a rose to any
ladies helping, and end with a request for all the
Brother Knights present to
help clear up. 15. Put the ropes
from the ends of the pews away. |
